Cat

Anjali De Nandi, MOM

Look at that cat!
Oh, furry and fat!
It likes to sit on my doormat.
It wears my hat.
It’s white.
It likes to eat fish, milk and rat.
At very dark night,
When in my house,
Here is no light,
Then, it’s eyes become very bright.
And it hunts mouse
From my store room,
It’s my pet’s favourite food.
But it’s good for my store room, really good.
So, I pat on soft body, pat and pat…
Sometime it plays with my broom.
Also, tears my paper-kite.
Chews on my balls and bats,
Continuous it bites and bites…
When another, outsider, cat –
It enters into my house and tries to take seat,
Then my cat fights against it,
Ferociously fights and fights…
With staying rights.
Tries to catch the bats
Which hangs from branches of plants.
It jumps again and again with energetic mood.
It takes rest on my shirts and pants,
Which are in my wardrobe of wood.
On my pillows, beds,
Here are our bodies and heads.
Our sleep is tight.
I can dream but I don’t know it that
Can the cat dream? Yes, cat?
